this year, we will learn to write: Argumentative: write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence using credible resources. Narrative: develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, relevant descriptive details, and well-structured event sequences. Informative/Explanatory: examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through selection, organization and analysis of relevant content. Students will perfect the writing process with daily spelling and grammar practice. In addition to reading several short stories and expository text from our Prentice Hall Literature Book and other outside resources, we might read two core novels: Boy of the Painted Cave and The Cay. Social Studies Students will learn about geography,
archaeology, and will study the ancient civilizations of: Mesopotamia, Egypt, Israel, India, China, Greece, and Rome. CA LA Standards Non-Fictional text and articles Analysis, open-ended response questions, reflecting, prove it! etc.
